Bob Burgess

Robert “Bob” William Burgess Jr., age 73 of Westfield, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his home.  He was born on June 11, 1945 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Robert and Mary (Mattingly) Burgess Sr.  Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam.  He married Aurea Mercurio on March 17, 1990 in Montello.  They moved to Westfield in 1994 where Bob opened The Trading Post.  He was an avid gun and coin collector, outdoorsman and he loved animals and his books.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Aurea; four children, Mary Burgess, Linda (Christian) Husson, Robert (Amber) Burgess and Bobbi (fiancé, Devin Hoeft) Burgess; six grandchildren, Gregory, Katherine, Elizabeth, Arabella, Alex and Anabella; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Bobel and Alice (Paul) Hunter; six brothers, Stosh, Richard (Sue), Billy (Carol), Daniel (Gail), David (Lisa) and Ed (Sue); many other relatives and friends.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Sherri Schergen and great niece, Sydney Schergen.

A funeral service for Bob will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield with Father Savio Yerasani officiating.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service.  Inurnment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL at a later date.
