Clifford “Bud” L. Virch, age 79 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2016 at U.W. Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 15, 1936 in Marinette, WI to Clifford N. and Ethel (Trippler) Virch. Bud married Barbara Schmidt on November 5, 1955 and in 2015 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He had a love of hardware. Bud worked in five different hardware stores before buying his own store in Westfield in 1965. He was active in the Westfield community as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, member and past president of the Chamber of Commerce and charter member of the Lions Club. Bud loved to golf and was club champion two years in a row. He also loved to bowl and travel, as he saw most of the world with Barb. He was a dog lover and never turned away a stray.
Survivors include his wife, Barb; five children, Scott (Kathleen) Virch, Valerie Virch, Veronica (fiancé, Rick) VanDerhyden, Todd (Jenny) Virch and Ann (fiancé, John) Virch; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Troy) Burgess, Matt (Samantha) Virch, Joel (Renee) Spoehr, Heather (Jared) Trosper, Chris (Jen) Virch, Jessica (Nick) Thomas, Sara (Evan) Virch, Bryce and Kendra Rozek; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Dale (Billi) Virch and Gary Virch; three sisters, Dawn (Bill) Picard, Vicki (John) Duescher and Linda (Dwight) Ziegler; many other relatives and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Bud will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Westfield with Rev. Janet Ruark officiating. A luncheon will be held at Thal Acres immediately following the service from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.Visits: 19
