Ellen Kruger

Ellen (“Ellie”) Ann (Laing) Kruger, age 81, of Packwaukee Township, Marquette County, WI, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Montello Care Center in Montello, WI. She was born on December 22, 1928 in the Township of Packwaukee, Marquette County, WI, the daughter of Lesley L. and Clara A. (Campbell) Laing. She was a 1947 graduate of Montello High School and was a member of the “Blue Jean” Club as well as being crowned prom queen. She married Gilbert “Gib” D. Kruger on November 29, 1950 in Westfield, WI. She was a Secretary at Allis Chalmers prior to starting a family and being a fulltime homemaker, residing in West Allis, WI until returning to her home farm in 1968. She was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Packwaukee, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She served 18 years as Clerk for the Town of Packwaukee and also as a Trustee for Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ellen was a devoted caregiver throughout her life. She lovingly cared for her parents, children, grandson and especially her husband. She enjoyed spoiling her family with home cooked meals and baked goods, which will be missed and fondly remembered. She also enjoyed spending time with and doting on her “grand-puppies”. One of her favorite pastimes was watching and feeding the many varieties of birds that visited her numerous feeders, especially cardinals. She also enjoyed sitting and relaxing outside on her deck.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (John) Miller and one son, Donn Kruger, rural Montello; one grandchild, Austin Kruger, Westfield. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and her best friend (“sister”), Mary Jean Thalacker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Edith (William) Wardzala and Ethel (Gordon) Ritchie.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Packwaukee at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 17, 2010. Pastor Brian Rohde will officiate. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Packwaukee Township, Marquette County, WI. Friends may call from 9:30 AM until time of services on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid or Eyes of Hope Shelter.
