Eloise Quinn

Eloise June Quinn passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Harris Villa at the age of 95. She was born on June 24, 1920 to William & Emma (Janke) Kruger at the Kruger family farm in the Township of Westfield. Eloise was baptized, confirmed, and a member of the E.U.B. Church in Westfield which was later changed to Faith United Methodist Church. She was a member of the U.M.W., Church Choir and Finance committee and helped with the Sunday and Bible School. Eloise graduated from Westfield High School in 1938. She married Ivan (Pete) Quinn on Nov. 15, 1941. They were married at the Kruger family farm in the Township of Westfield. Shortly after they were married Pete left for the service and Eloise moved to Chicago and worked as “Rosie the Riveter”.

Eloise enjoyed being with family and friends the most, but also enjoyed baking (especially pies), playing cards, playing the piano and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the 500 Club in Westfield for many years and was part of the Westfield Volunteer Fire Dept. helping for many years with the Chicken BBQ.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Fred) Posthuma, daughter-in-law Terry (Jim) Johnson, four grandchildren – Sarah Lieske – Ripon, Douglas (Cassandra) Quinn – Portage, Katie (Luke) Showen and Kayla (Sam) Rugg – Westfield. Nine Great Grandchildren – Declan and Ian Lieske, Brycen, Brenten, and Brayden Quinn, Haddie and Libbie Showen, and Tia and Griffin Rugg. Eloise is also survived by one sister Lucille Heath of Aurora IL, sister in laws –Myrna Kruger Ashley, Peggy Quinn, Mary Quinn, Marlene Wenzel, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete (5/29 /06) Infant son Howard and son Gregory (11/22/97), 5 brothers – Arthur, Alvin, Amos, Donald and Robert Kruger and 4 sisters – Alma Hammersberg, Arlene Jones, Hazel Eifler and Evelyn Miller. She also had 2 half- sisters, Laura Schlueter and Lillian Kruger.

A visitation for Eloise will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Westfield.

A funeral service for Eloise will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Westfield with Rev. Min Chea officiating. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or the Westfield Volunteer Fire Dept.
