Eugene Lenius

Eugene "Don" Lenius Sr., age 81 of Harrisville, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 at William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital, Madison. He was born on December 12, 1926 in Rockford, IL, son of the late Carl and Nettie (Evert) Lenius. Don proudly served his country during WW II in the United States Navy. He married Vera J. Hayes on February 12, 1948, she preceded him in death on October 18, 2003. Don worked for J.L. Clark in Rockford for 42 years. He was a member of the Navy and Eagle Club, Rockford and Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips to the casino, traveling and attending great grandson, Jacen's sporting events.
Survivors include four children, Sandra Stamps, Rockford, IL, Debra Lenius, Independence, WI, Eugene (Angelena) Lenius Jr., Oklahoma and Loren Lenius, Pardeeville, WI; eleven grandchildren, Arthur (Anita) Cardenas, Gina (Joe) Cardenas, Lynnea (Charles) Schwersenska, Gary H. (Abby) Dee Jr., Jason (Traci) Dee, LeAnn Dee, Gladden (Leslie) Bailey, Seth and Brook Lenius, Ivory (Corey) and Ashley (Dylan) Lenius; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; son in law, J.R. Watkins, Lake Delton; two brothers, LaVerne (Doris) Lenius, Machesney Park, IL and Carl (Louise) Lenius Jr., Cape Coral, FL; many other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Watkins; two sisters, Lillian Vogeler and Dorothy Kolthoff; brother, Robert Lenius.
A funeral service for Don will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield with Rev. Robert Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Harrisville Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
