Frieda Kruger

Biography Frieda E. Kruger, age 92, of Montello, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Montello Care Center. She was born on June 24, 1915 in the Township of Packwaukee, daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Owen) Steinhaus. Frieda married Harold I. Kruger on January 26, 1946 in Coloma; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2000. She was a dedicated letter writer to servicemen during WW II. Frieda worked as a secretary for the Fox River Co-op, in the Social Welfare Department of Marquette County and as a reporter for the Portage Daily Register. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Packwaukee. Although she was unable to dance herself due to polio, Frieda enjoyed going to dances. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include three children, Bruce (Margaret), Whitefish Bay, Larry (Sylvia), West Bend and Mary Kruger, Columbia, SC; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law Lavira Steinhaus, Montello; other relatives and friends. Frieda was preceded in death by five brothers: Clifford, Carl, Kenneth, Lawrence and Gerald Steinhaus.
A memorial service for Frieda will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Packwaukee, with Rev. Brian Rohde and Rev. Michael Maddick officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Township of Packwaukee at a later date. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Packwaukee.
