Gertrude “Gertie” Ann Beutler, age 63 of Westfield, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. She was born on June 29, 1947 in Portage to Alfred and Lorraine (Bornick) Marotz. Gertie was baptized on July 20, 1947 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Newton and confirmed on May 28, 1961 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1965 and from Wisconsin Vocational Technical School, WI Rapids in 1967. Gertie married Kenneth A. Beutler on September 11, 1982. She worked at PDQ and Hoffman House in Madison and for Brakebush Brothers and Apollo Tool in Westfield. Gertie enjoyed flowers, cats, horses and dogs. She loved to fish, deer hunt and shoot trap.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Kenneth; one daughter, Amanda (Nick) Beutler; her mother, Lorraine Marotz, Westfield; four sisters, Kathryn (friend, Dave) Marotz, Angeline (friend, Corey) Krueger, Geraldine Benner and Mary (Bill) Piechowski; two brothers, John (Bonnie) Marotz and Steven Marotz; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Gertie was preceded in death by her father, Alfred; two brothers in law, James Benner and Fran Stadele.
A funeral service for Gertie will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Newton with Rev. Ronald Schultz officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hospice Home of Hope or Central Wisconsin Cancer Center in Fond du Lac.
