Gus Selbach

June 23, 1936 — October 29, 2012

Gus J. Selbach, age 76 of Endeavor, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Divine Savior Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1936 in Portage, son of the late Gustave and Erma (Flower) Selbach. In his teenage years, his parents bought a farm and moved their family from Portage to the Town of Moundville. During his first marriage, Gus and his family lived in Florida until his beloved wife and mother of his children, Katherine passed away. Gus and his four children then returned to Portage. By trade, Gus was a stone mason, brick layer and chimney sweep. Sometime later, he married and divorced, before he found love again with Kay Froehlich, his wife of 20 years. Gus lived in the Endeavor area most of his life, until being called to his heavenly home.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Selbach, Portage; two children, Cheryl Selbach, Portage (Arnold Schehr of Endeavor) and Gus Selbach, Endeavor; step son, Todd Froehlich, Portage; nine grandchildren, Rabecka (Donald) Hankel, Joshua (Nicole Watford) Schehr, Lindsay (A.J.) Schehr-Dummer, Bonnie Schehr, Brittany (Tommy Decarlis) Siciliano, Rachael Schehr, Katherine, Taurilyn and Gus Selbach; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Jo Warpool, GA, Sarah (Bill) Mautz, Portage, Sue Kirby, FL; brother, Robert (Deb Culver) Selbach, Wisconsin Dells; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends with a special thank you to Jenn and Jarrod. Gus was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine; two daughters, Cynthia Selbach and Bonnie Siciliano; two sisters, Lois Kempley and Nancy Collins.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Gus’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Hall in Portage.
