Oxford

Harold “Mick” H. Golz, age 84 of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the home of his daughter Audrea. He was born September 4, 1939 at home in Jackson Township, Adams County to Harold and Hazel (Garlock) Golz.

Growing up on the family farm, Mick learned how important it was to work hard and have goals.  While in high school, he enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1957. After graduation, he went to work for Warren Coon Trucking. He met his first wife Judy (Dunn) in high school. He continued working for Coon Trucking until he and his brother Jim became partners and bought the Dunn farm. It was difficult to be successful while farming, so he decided to go back to driving trucks. He and his second wife, Karen, moved to Florida. Mick spent several years in Florida driving trucks all over the country. He met his third wife, Jackie while in Florida. Mick and Jackie returned to Oxford where Mick continued to drive trucks while becoming an independent operator. He retired in Oxford. Mick had a wonderful full life, always dreaming of newer adventures and bigger things, but remembering that hard work gets things done and it’s always good to keep family close. He will be deeply missed and always in our hearts.

Mick loved all kinds of sports. He excelled at baseball, softball, and football in high school. For many years he played softball for the Oxford Lions Club. He was a fantastic pitcher! Mick enjoyed bowling and the team of Golz and Elliott was unstoppable! He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and golf. When indoors, darts was his game. His true passion; however, was gardening. He grew the best vegetables. He went to tractor pulls and rode snowmobiles all over the state. Mick loved word searches, war movies, and westerns.

He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard He was a member of the Oxford Lions Club and the Oxford Snowmobile Club.

Mick leaves behind a brother, John (Jack) Golz; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbi (Al Gutierrez), Eileen Golz (Duane Rader), Audrea (John Mack), Nikki (Kevin Farmer), and Tifani Golz; grandchildren, Ryan, Stefani, Bradley, Joshua, Dylan, Michelle, Elaina, Liam and Xander; 14 great grandchildren; ex-wives, Judy and Karen.  He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; his mother, Hazel (Garlock); his brother, James; daughter, Francyne and ex-wife, Jackie.
