Irene Ermers

Irene Agnes Ermers, age 70 of Portage, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her home. She was born on October 21, 1941 in Westfield to Elmer and Edna (Bliefneich) Rick.

Irene loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed to read. Irene was an avid Green Bay Packer, Jeff Gordon and NASCAR fan. She loved to collect Packer, Jeff Gordon and NASCAR items. She also collected Native American items and loved to collect shoes and clothes too. Irene saved every greeting card she received. That’s how much she loved her family and friends. She loved flowers and helped friends in their greenhouse for about 16 years. Irene loved to share what she could with those that were less fortunate and to help a good cause. She recently had her first motorcycle ride. Irene was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie (Melvin) VanBlaricom, Roswell, NM; two sons, Charles Ermers Jr., Mauston and Jeffrey Byrnes, Waupun; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert (Barbara) Rick, Bybee, TN; six sisters, Eleanore Merryfield, Westfield, Elda Carlton, Oxford, Evelyn (Glenn) Jones, Wittenberg, Doris (Larry) Orvis, Fond du Lac, Judy (Randy) Tank, Gillette and Barbara Herron, Wales; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial gathering for Irene will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Richford Cemetery, Waushara County. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family.
