James Murray

Biography

James Edward Murray, age 82, long time resident of Westfield, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage, Wisconsin. He was born on July 16, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Chester and Lucille (Reagen) Murray.

Jim retired from ITE Circuit Breaker Company, where he worked as an electrical engineer in service of utilities such as Commonwealth Edison, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), and Con Ed in New York.

He volunteered with several libraries including the Ethel Everhard Memorial Library in Westfield, for a time serving as representative to the Wisconsin state library association. Member of the Coloma Lions Club and also served as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America for many years.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army Signal Corps during World War II, including post-war service in the Philippine Islands.

Survived by wife, M. Patricia Murray, as well as children Timothy Murray (spouse Elizabeth Potter-Murray), Anne Murray (partner Lenore Duffy), Catherine Belt (spouse Rick Belt), and Daniel Murray (spouse Julie Murray), and grandchildren, Sean Belt, Teri Borus (nee Belt), and Hilary, Leslie, Caroline, Connor, Heather, Stacey, Andrew and Jeremy Murray, and pre-deceased by grandson Matthew Murray.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Westfield with Rev. Michael Richel officiating. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Coloma. A visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory will be gratefully accepted at Divine Savior Extended Care, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, or Ethel Everhard Memorial Library, Westfield.
