James Arthur Thompson

James Arthur Thompson, 71 of Grayslake, Illinois passed away on October 6, 2026. Jim was born in Libertyville, Illinois on August 28, 1955 to Katharine Athey and Jeffery Alvin Thompson. He was a cherished and deeply loved husband, father, papa and friend; his presence will be profoundly missed.

Jim dedicated his life to his wife, four daughters and grandchildren. Whether you knew him as Jim, Jimmy or simply Ray you knew he loved the outdoors, hunting, dogs, cars and most of all making people laugh. He was the life of the party and our family.

Jim had a tough guy exterior, but was truly the most loving, reliable and generous man. He was forever young at heart, his children and grandchildren were often victims of the tickle monster, silly pranks and endless jokes.

Jim is survived by his wife Connie Thompson, daughters Cary Thompson (Devin), Abigail Mitchell (Bobbie), Kelsey Thompson, Katie Becker and four grandchildren Audrey, Eve, Hailey and Clay.
