Jerome ‘Corky’ W. Sandahl, 84 passed away peacefully in the home he built over 30 years ago in Coloma, WI on January 13, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife of 62 years Bernice and his children.
Corky was born in Daggett, MI in 1938 and moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1956. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic for Allen Bradley for 38 years retiring in 1993. He then worked 11 more years part-time for Kershner’s Gas Service, Inc.
He was an avid sports fan and was a season ticket holder/owner of the Green Bay Packers since 1957. He enjoyed many years of camping, Hodag festivals, snowmobiling and deer hunting in the UP with family and friends. He enjoyed golf cart rides, pontooning or just spending time outdoors with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Bernice spent many years as snowbirds in Texas and Gulf Shores, AL.
Corky was a past president and Chairman of the Coloma Lions and an active member of the Lion’s eye bank volunteer program. He was also a member of Friends of the Coloma Park. He served as President of the Cudahy, So. Milw, Oak Creek Bowling Association 1974-75. He was also the last surviving member of the original 4 Kings Investment Club.
Corky was a thinker and it was rare to find a situation or issue he could not fix or solve. He fought cancer with much Sisu. Sadly, this was one problem he was not able to find a solution to.
He will be deeply missed and is survived by his beloved wife Bernice (Boesl). His children Wynn (Mary) Sandahl, Denise (Mark) Hince, Brad (Sandy Roubal) Sandahl, Tom (Susan) Sandahl. Grandchildren Brittni, Brianna, Allie, Jacob (Jessi), Kaitlyn (Alex), Sarah, Stephanie and Brett. Great grandchildren Daisy Mae and Jaxon. As well as many friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wendell and Selma Sandahl and his brother Ronald “Ronny” Sandahl.
There will be a private funeral Mass for Corky with a Celebration of Life to follow later this year. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JDFR – Juvenile Diabetes Research at www.2.jdfr.org or to www.heartlandhospicefund.org.
Please take a moment to view the online Tribute Wall. Send your condolences or share a memory of Corky with his family & friends.
