John J. Duesterhoeft

John Julius Duesterhoeft of Westfield, Wisconsin, was born on October 4, 1931 in the township of Montello, Marquette County, Wisconsin, the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Hoeft) Duesterhoeft.

John was baptized into the Christian faith on October 18, 1931. He was confirmed on December 2, 1945. He married Caroline Henke on June 29, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the township of Springfield by the Rev. Karl Reis. They lived in Ripon for 8 years, then moved to Westfield.

John served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 as a weapons instructor and judo trainer.

He worked at Speed Queen as a paint foreman in Ripon, Wisconsin before going into business with his brother Paul as D&D Builders for 30 years, building over 100 homes in Marquette County and the surrounding area during that time.

Church and family were very important to John.

He served as a church trustee for many years at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield.

John is survived by his two daughters, Cathy (Dan) Rohner, and Wendy (Joe) Mangal; four grandchildren, Devin (Alison) Rohner, Nicole (Tyler) Wollert, Michelle Mangal, and Daniel Mangal; four great grandchildren, Connor and Gavin Rohner, and Jameson and Jackson Wollert; sister-in-law, Edith Duesterhoeft; brother-in-law, Martin (Betty) Henke; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline, of 65 years; his parents; brother, Paul Duesterhoeft; in-laws, Otto and Dora Henke; brother and sisters-in-law, Walter (Hildegard) Henke, Hilbert (Elaine) Henke, Gerhardt (Verla) Henke, Gertie (Harry) Berndt, Dorothy (Elroy) Schroeder; niece Susan Kruger; nephew Donald Henke.

The Lord called John to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the age of 94. John’s earthly remains will be committed to the ground following the service and they will await the resurrection at the Westfield East Cemetery.

A funeral service for John will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield with Rev. Jesse Davis officiating. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery with full military honors by the Westfield Honor Guard. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund.
