John Hamilton

February 12, 1940 — April 15, 2010

John Rodger Hamilton, age 70 of Westfield, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at home. He was born on February 12, 1940, Township of Westfield to John T. and Elizabeth (Rodger) Hamilton. John graduated from Westfield High School in 1957. He married Sharon Nutting on September 9, 1961 in Westfield. John worked for AMC and Chrysler in Kenosha for 40 years retiring in 1999. He and Sharon moved back to Westfield in 2005 to be closer to family. John re-joined First Presbyterian Church of Westfield in 2006. He was a founding member of the National Corvette Restorers Club and a member of the Leaky Boot Hunting Club. John enjoyed collecting antique and toy tractors but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and the companionship of his dogs.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sharon; one son, Pat “Bucky” (Tammy) Hamilton, Westfield; two granddaughters, Elsbeth and Emma Hamilton; one sister, Janet Huber, Kenosha; uncle, Bruce Rodger, FL; other relatives and many friends. John was preceded in death by his father, John and his mother and step father, Elizabeth and Robert Wainwright.
A funeral service for John will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Westfield with Pastor Barb Merwin officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Township of Westfield. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to First Presbyterian Church, Westfield, Budda Box Fight Against Cancer of Marquette County or American Cancer Society.
