Kenneth Johnson

Kenneth M. Johnson, age 95 of Westfield, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage. He was born on July 18, 1916 in the Town of New Chester, Adams County son of the late Herbert and Ina (McMahon) Johnson. Ken graduated from Westfield High School in 1934. He then attended School of Engineering in Milwaukee. He started working as an electrician for Westfield Power and Light. Ken then started his own electrical contracting business and was a surge dairy equipment dealer. Later he established Johnson’s Laundry in Westfield. Ken married Roberta McWilliams on June 7, 1941. He served his country for three years in the South Pacific during WWII with the U.S. Army. Ken has been a member of Eubank Ulrich Zuelke VFW Post #8718 for 60 years, Jolly Squares, White Trackers Snowmobile Club, Town of Westfield Fire Department, Westfield Campers and First Presbyterian Church of Westfield.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Roberta, Russell Flats; daughter, Judy (Ed) McCorkle, Michigan City, IN; two sons, Bob (Liz), Methuen, MA and Jim (Terry), Westfield; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Ken was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Whitney and Leila Lyon; brother, Donald W. Johnson; daughter in law, Mary Johnson and grandson, Mark Jobin.
A funeral service for Ken will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Westfield with Pastors Barb Merwin and Alyson Janke officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Westfield with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Memorials would be welcome to Oak Hill Cemetery or First Presbyterian Church.
