Leland Turner

September 6, 1935 — January 30, 2008

Leland "Lee" D. Turner, age 72 of Westfield, formerly of Waunakee, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at his home. He was born on September 6, 1935 in Township of Buffalo, son of the late Wendell and Mabel (McReath) Turner. Lee proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. He married Barbara Roidt on November 5, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa. Lee worked for Madison Gas & Electric for 34 years retiring and moving to Westfield in 1993. He was a member of the Westfield Lions Club and participated in their "Giving the Gift of Sight" campaign. Lee enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards and life on Lawrence Lake fishing and boating. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara; four daughters, Linda Turner, Madison, Donna (Chad) Jacobsen, Fond du Lac, Laura (Mark Sweeney) Turner, Fitchburg and Deana (Ford Sheridan) Turner, Waunakee; five grandchildren, Sarah and Erika Jacobsen, Carson and Magnus Sheridan and Analise Sweeney; two sisters, Agnes (Glenn) Alexander, Endeavor and Charlotte (Kenny) Roundy, Rio; one brother, John Turner, Wyocena; many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Lee's life will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Haystack Supper Club, W7457 County Rd. E, Westfield. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin, 2302 International Lane, Suite 200, Madison, WI 53704.
