Leona Groskreutz

Leona W. Groskreutz, age 98 of Westfield, passed away on May 10, 2010 at Wild Rose Hospital. She was born on November 4, 1911 in Newton Township, Marquette County, Wisconsin. She was the only child of Otto and Lena (Buchholtz) Weishaar. She married William Groskreutz on May 3, 1931 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Springfield Township. She was also the church organist for a number of years. Leona was a life-long resident in the Westfield area. She was employed ten years for General Telephone Co. and then 17 years for Montello Products Co. in Montello. She worked at the Marquette County Fair and also helped at the Newton Harvest Fest and then at the Marquette County Nutrition Program.
Survivors include her son, Eldon of Westfield; brother-in-law, Arden Groskreutz, Princeton and many other friends and relatives. Leona was preceded in death by her husband William on July 12, 1995 and her daughter Ruth in infancy on December 31, 1932.
A funeral service for Leona will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield with Rev. Ron Riemer officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Springfield. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
