Lois Daye

August 31, 1926 — November 25, 2021

Fond du Lac/Neshkoro

Lois C. Daye, age 95 of Fond du Lac, formerly of Neshkoro, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born on August 31, 1926 in Princeton to Herman and Johanna (Otto) Golz. Lois married George D. Daye on July 29, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton.

Lois was raised in Princeton, Wisconsin and graduated from Princeton High School in 1944. She then secured a memorable first job at Camp Robin Hood in Green Lake before graduating from the Business Institute in Milwaukee. After meeting and marrying George, the couple purchased a farm outside of Neshkoro where they spent many happy years improving their home and property. All 4 of their children were raised at the farm where Lois helped George in addition to being a full-time homemaker. Lois was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church throughout her life as well as a longtime member of the Ladies Aide group. She also enjoyed participating in the Marquette County Homemakers and working at the Neshkoro election polls. Lois was well-known for her cooking and baking skills, often making elaborate birthday and wedding cakes for her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She loved to make birthdays and holidays extra special for her family and always had space at the table to welcome anyone who might stop by.

Lois enjoyed sewing, gardening, decorating her home and maintained a pleasant lifelong correspondence with her childhood pen pal. She loved going to the theater for plays and hearing band concerts. She was a crafter for several years, enjoying flower arranging, sewing, and a large variety of crafts. Lois also loved reading, taking pictures, and making several photo albums of life's memories. Later in life, Lois moved off the farm in Neshkoro, fulfilling a lifelong wish to return to a home in Princeton. She had a very loyal family, and her children loved her greatly. Her sense of humor and ability to make every family gathering a really happy one will be very missed.

Lois is survived by her four children, Nancy (Tom) Quinn, Westfield, Donna (Dean) Standke, Fond du Lac, Ronald (Christine), Green Lake and Dennis (Susan), Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren, Vanessa (Erik) Jepsen, Tammy (Craig) Zonka, Kevin Quinn, Sara (Ben) Weil, Stephanie and Jeremy Daye, Ryan (fiancé, Klara Manning) Daye and Shannon (Pete) Scalish; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Macy, Emmett, Kyleigh, Cassandra and James; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister and two brothers.
