Lorraine Scharnberg

Lorraine V. Scharnberg, age 91 of Westfield, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on December 20, 2012 with family by her side.

She was born on October 5, 1921 to Rudolf M. and Adele (Kujath) Wolter, the 5th and last child born to the family. Lorraine married Arthur T. Scharnberg on February 16, 1946. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before he passed away on November 26, 1998. She was a strong and devoted farm-wife, never moving from her family home. Lorraine was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran ELCA at Harrisville.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Arnold) Rohde; two granddaughters, April (Eric Bethke Sr.) Rohde and Brenda (Nick) Peschel; one great grandson, Eric Jr.; two step great grandsons, Nate and Matt Peschel. She is further survived by two special nieces, Elaine Norem and Carol Bubbolz. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings and their spouses, Ervin (Esther) Wolter, Harold (Zelma) Wolter, Edna (Alvin) Hoffman and Hilda (Gail) Miller.

A funeral service for Lorraine will be held on Monday, December 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Harrisville with Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
