Margaret Mary Wandrey

December 28, 1981 — November 18, 2023

Coloma

Margaret Mary (Esselman) Wandrey, age 41 of Coloma, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 18, 2023 in her home.

Margaret (“Meg” or “Mugs”) was born December 28, 1981 to Mark and Mary (Broderick) Esselman in Wisconsin Rapids. Meg graduated from Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School in 2000. She went on to college and graduated from UW Eau Claire in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Marketing and Colorado State University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services. Her kind heart and willingness to assist others led her to become a Licensed Social Worker for Marquette County, working in the Aging and Disability Resource Center.

Margaret married her husband and best friend Evin Wandrey in May of 2016 and were blessed with two children. She was a kind, loving and forgiving person, but also wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and put someone in their place if needed. She was a hard worker, but also just wanted to sleep in and be lazy. She was not afraid to get dirty working outside, but also liked getting dressed up and wearing sparkly things. She loved nature and all things outdoors. She loved hunting and fishing with her husband, father and brothers. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Whether making food in the kitchen or doing housework, she tried to make sure her two little helpers were there and had something to do to help. She shared her love for gardening with her children and loved watching the plants grow with them. Her greatest love was being “Mama”. She loved her family and friends, remaining close with many of her cousins, aunts, and uncles. She had a bubbly personality and a warm smile that could make anyone feel welcome and rarely let anyone say goodbye without a hug as she would say “I’m a hugger.” The void left in her absence will not be filled.

Margaret leaves behind her husband, Evin; two children, Rhett (4) and Simone (2); parents, Mark “Mick” and Mary (Broderick) Esselman, Nekoosa; older brother, Andrew Esselman; younger brother, Matthew (Jackie Shea) Esselman; nephews and nieces, Nathan Esselman, Natalie Esselman, Andrea Esselman and Allison Esselman. She is also survived by her father-in-law, James Wandrey and special friend, Cindy Wierzchowsk; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Attoe Wandrey and partner, Richard Gromowski; brother-in-law, Justin Obgartel and children Trinity and Tristan; sister-in-law, Sara Jonovsky; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Margaret is preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold Joseph and Verdelma Mary Broderick of Beloit, WI; James Bernard and Marcella Rose Esselman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; uncle, John Francis Chekouras of Mequon, WI; and cousin, Ann Marie Esselman of Nekoosa, WI.

A funeral service for Margaret will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield with Rev. Rodney Armon officiating.  A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church.  Although Meg loved flowers/plants and are appreciated, memorials would greatly be appreciated to her children.
