Marliene “Marlie” M. Salzwedel, age 75 of Montello, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29, 2016 with her daughter by her side at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage, Wisconsin. Marlie was born on November 9, 1940 to Andrew and Marie (Clinkingbeard) Schmitz in Madison, Wisconsin. She married Roy Salzwedel on September 23, 1988 in Portage, Wisconsin. They lived in Montello and after Roy’s retirement enjoyed spending winter months in Florida.

Marlie overcame several personal hardships during her life with the strong will and faith she possessed. She was a loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother. She had a fun loving spirit, a warm personality, a good sense of humor and generous heart. She could make friends anywhere she went and enjoyed visiting with people. Marlie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bingo, sewing, traveling and was a talented crafter. She was a member of the American Legion Post 351, Montello Lioness and Red Hatters. Marlie donated her time to a multiple charities and organizations.

Marlie is survived by her children, Melissa (Jason) Minnema of Montello, Kevin (Teresa) Snyder of Decatur, IL and Debbie Coleman of Stevens Point, her grandchildren Colton, Gerrit, Brittany, Derek, Dustin and Derek. She is also survived by her adopted family of the heart and many friends. She loved them all very much. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy. She will be celebrated in life by her children and friends.

A celebration of Marlie’s life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Marquette Community Church of Montello with Pastor Kevin Dick officiating. A private family inurnment will be in Eastside Cemetery, Montello. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
