Melvin “Mickey” Frank Schrank, age 86 of Westfield, passed away peacefully in the hands of God on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. He was born on May 10, 1933 in Coloma to Walter and Hilda (Powell) Schrank. Mickey joined the Air Force after graduating high school. While in the Air Force he did his basic training in Arizona, went overseas and spent 18 months in England and his last tour was in Hawaii. Mickey met and married Victoria “Vicky” Wong while being stationed in Hawaii. Together they moved to Wisconsin and started a family. He worked at the foundry in Madison and in 1959 he and Vicky moved to Westfield where Mickey worked for his father as a mason. He then had various jobs working as a butcher, for Alto Creamery, Brakebush Brothers and Westfield Equipment. Mickey enjoyed fishing, bowling, horseshoes, hunting, country music, Saturday night dancing and weekend family barbeques.
Survivors include his five children, Lisa (Joe) Michaels, Lori (Tom) Harjung, Randy (Cheri Raabe) Schrank, Lana (Pete Neerdaels) Kukla and Lynda (Rory Rock) Anagnostopoulos; nine grandchildren, Richard, Laura, Joey, Amanda, Elizabeth, Sara, Christopher, Kyle and Kayla; 14 great grandchildren, Lucas, Michael, Vanessa, Matthew, Marcus, John, Corey, Morgan, Carly, Carver, Dawson, Lawrence, Keean and Sophia; ex-wife, Vicky Clouse; nephew, Bob Canady; other relatives and friends. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard “Louie” Schrank; brother, Larry Schrank and two sisters, Irmabelle Ferch and Dorothy Schrank.
A funeral service for Mickey will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield with Pastor Terry Temanson officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. A visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
