Pearl Elizabeth McLaughlin, age 100 of Westfield, died peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Montello Care Center in Montello, Wisconsin. Pearl Elizabeth Ellis was born July 2, 1920 west of Plainfield, the daughter of Harly and Audrey Bender Ellis. This July, Pearl turned 100 years old. Pearl was the sixth child of a family of twelve. She went to school in Plainfield. On March 17th, 1940 she married Maurice Vern (Pete) McLaughlin in Rockford IL. In 1944, Pete and Pearl moved to Westfield and bought a farm in the township of Springfield. Together they farmed for 52 years. Pearl and Pete had one son, Larry Dean McLaughlin on May 18th, 1953.
Pearl worked beside her husband on the farm, milking cows, doing field work, and picking stones. She also loved to garden, do yard work, and bake. The family will miss her beloved banana bread. Another wonderful pastime Pearl had was she played the piano by ear. She always called her grandchildren and great grandchildren to play Happy Birthday. Pearl also played cards every week with her card girls, and would challenge her grandkids to a fierce game of 31.
Pearl leaves behind her son Larry McLaughlin, grandchildren Michelle (Craig) Wolff, Jana (Justin) Dahms, Tyler (Lauren) McLaughlin, great grandchildren Brandon and Braylee Wolff, Breanna and Alexandria Baljo, Jaxtin and Coltin Dahms, and Elliana McLaughlin, her brother Robert Ellis and many nieces.
Pearl was preceded in death by her mother (Audrey), her father (Harly), her husband Maurice (Pete) McLaughlin, daughter-law Victoria McLaughlin, and her brother and sisters.
