Ronald Holtz

March 27, 1943 — May 11, 2017

Ronald Jerome Holtz, age 74 of Oxford passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 11, 2017 doing what he loved……fishing. Ron was born in Milwaukee to Elmer and Dolly (Klein) Holtz on March 27, 1943. He was a 1961 graduate of Oxford High School and married Barbara Peterson on May 23, 1966 in Madison; together they were blessed with three children.

Ron worked for Grignano Construction Company in Madison for several years before returning to Oxford. He was a highly sought after fishing guide on the Castle Rock & Petenwell Flowages. Ron owned and operated Holtz Hardware store until 1975, at which time he began working the family farm in the town of Westfield. He farmed for many years; raising both crops and beef cattle. After selling his last cow in the late 1990’s, he began to operate his storage business. Ron was an avid Packer and Badgers fan and loved to hunt and especially fish. He enjoyed his daily morning coffee with his friends, his trips to Las Vegas and most of all his family. He will be greatly missed.

Ron is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Barb and three children: Kirk of Racine, Mary Jo (Ryen) Westerberg of River Falls and William (Lisa) of Westfield. He is also survived by three grandsons: Adrian, Liam and Charlie as well as brothers-in-law: Roger (Rhonda) Peterson, James (Cheri) Peterson and Roger Liddicoat. Ron is further survived by many friends, cousins and other extended family members. His beloved cat Percy misses his warm lap greatly.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Ardith Liddicoat.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Holtz will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield.
