Ruth Bennett Mui

Ruth Bennett Mui, age 73 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026 at her home. She was born on February 26, 1953 in Portage to Kenneth and Margaret (Russell) Bennett. Ruth graduated with honors from Westfield High School in 1971. She attended college at UW-Oshkosh and graduated with a degree in secondary education in 1975.

Ruth began her teaching career in St. Louis, Missouri. She then traveled overseas and taught in the Dominican Republic, Abu Dhabi and Pakistan. Ruth returned to Westfield in 2004 and taught at the Columbia Correctional Institution until she retired in 2021.

Ruth was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post in Westfield. The family wants to thank caregivers Nicole and Shelly for their kindness and support.

Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Linda Bennett and Karen Bennett; two brothers, Kenneth B. Bennett and John (Charlene) Bennett; nieces, Michelle, Margaret and Stephanie; nephews, Michael, Mathew and Justin; other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russell and sister, Barbara.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Westfield. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Westfield. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Ruth’s name.
