Sonja M. Flynn

Sonja M. Flynn, age 88 of Coloma (Pleasant Lake) passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at her home. She was born on February 6, 1937 in Rockford, IL to Folke and Elsie Clark.

Sonja married Jerry Baxter in 1955 and they had six children, Darla, Sharon, Steve, Mark, Benny and Folke. Then in August of 1979, she married Jim Flynn. Jim has nine children, Tim, Dan, Desi, Pat, Shannon, Jody, Kerry, Erin and Courtney. Sonja has 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June; daughter, Darla and two grandsons, Roger and Drew.

Sonja loved to dance, play bingo and cards and she couldn’t pass up a garage sale. She was a great wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother and great grandmother.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sonja will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma with Father Walter Stumpf officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Sonja’s name.

Sonja’s family would like to thank the hospice team, they were all a great help. They also want to thank their own helpers, Bella Klitzke, Karen Mathes and Pat Waters for the wonderful care and support.
