The ending of a life is never where a man’s story stops — it lives on through the memories that are written by his wife’s unending devotion, his son’s unconditional love and his daughter’s total adoration. Stanley Nelson was a lucky man. A gentle giant with a heart as big as his hands who never met a food he didn’t like- and could and did, take a nap anytime or anywhere. Stanley loved fishing and hunting, whether it was trips with friends or simple times at the nearest lake with his daughter and son. Later in life, the time he spent with his grandsons would fill his days with love and laughter. His accomplishments and passions were many – loyal father, avid sports and Packer fan, he enjoyed JD antique tractors and he was a craftsman and builder by trade. Most importantly he was the caretaker of his family and ‘hero’ to his wife of 51 years. His laugh was big and his presence was even bigger – he will be missed every day.
Family members surviving Stanley include: his wife Nancy, children Kari, Eric (Nikki) and Kelsey (Matt Borud) and their children, Owen and Trevor; Leeanne McGuire and Kirk Head; sister Judy (Bill Gifford); brother-in-law Eli McNutt; mother-in-law Bernice Watland, sister-in-law Coralee Erickson and many nieces and nephews. Family members who have preceded Stanley in death include: his parents George and Marion (Bass), brother Hubert, sister Betty, son Kent Head and father-in-law Clarence (Sparky) Watland.
When it is safe to do so, there will be a celebration of life for Stanley so his family and friends can remember and toast to him.
