Steven Douglas Evans

Steve Evans, age 74 of Montello, passed away peacefully with his son Bill by his side on Monday, December 25, 2023 at his home.  He was born on November 28, 1949 in Potosi, WI to Harley and Betty (Snively) Evans.

Steve was a selfless man. His family always came first! He loved to fish, hunt, and run the poker table. He loved motorcycles, classic cars and his garden. He was never without his best friend and loyal canine companion, Jake. Steve was a dedicated Korean Veteran, that was very proud of his time in the Army. Steve had the privilege of taking the honor flight to D.C. with his grandson, Dustin, in November of 2022. He worked at Techalloy of Union, IL for over 30 years before retiring in Montello, WI. Steve will be remembered for his unconditional love and generosity for everyone.

Steve is survived by his brothers and sisters, Donny, Scott, Ginny, Judy, Janet, Linda and Bob; children, Robin Winkels, Bill (Charlotte) Evans and Dawn Thompson; grandchildren, Jarod Winkels, Nora Winkels, Tyler (Wendy) Evans, Dustin “Frank” Evans, Melanie Evans (Nick), Cortney Evans, Dylan Thompson, Erin (Oscar) Nichols and Anna Torato;  great grandchildren, Neveah Evans, Ryen Evans, Allison Evans, William Evans, Summer Evans, Addison Fisher, Elizabeth Fisher, Delilah Fisher, Falyn Fisher, Mason Dwayne and Cecilia Marie; mother of his children, Delores Evans.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Harley Evans Jr.; sister, Helen Evans; great grandson, Hunter Dewayne and his mother and father, Harley and Betty Evans.

A funeral service for Steve will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield with Pastor Brenda Pulver officiating.  Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.  A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be in Montello City Cemetery at a later date.
