Bonnie Shriver

June 22, 1934 — April 4, 2020

Pleasant Lake/Westfield

Bonnie Rae (Brown) Shriver of Montello, Wis., and formerly of Westfield and Coloma (Pleasant Lake), Wis., died Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Montello Care Center, at the age of 85.

Bonnie was born June 22, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo., to Thelma (McCartney) Brown and Richard Calvin Brown, both of whom preceded her in death.

After graduating from East High School in Kansas City, she attended nursing school, then worked at Kansas City General and later for Dr. Milton Ozar in his private practice.

She married James Gordon Shriver on May 23, 1958, in Kansas City.  He preceded Bonnie in death on Sept. 17, 1996, at age 62.

In 1963, Bonnie and Jim adopted a son and Bonnie became a stay-at-home mom. Bonnie doted on Greg, a proud “Mama’s boy,” who once said: “I’ve had many addresses. Never any one place was home. For me, home has always been where my mom is.”

Bonnie was previously active in community theater and bowling leagues, loved to play golf at Thal Acres Links and Lanes outside Westfield, and also enjoyed live theater and shopping.

Among the travel she cherished most were several trips to New York to visit her cousin, Louis, and her trips to Europe.

Bonnie was generous and loving, had a great sense of humor and a smile for everyone.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Glen Shriver (Janice) of Richmond, Va., cousins Louis Bradbury (Ken) of East Hampton, N.Y., and Terri Bradbury Weber (Dinny), of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She is also survived by a host of friends and loved ones, including her dear friend Herbert Henke of Westfield.

Bonnie was cremated with Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Westfield. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, no services will be held at this time.
