Obituary

Dawn LaJean DeMott, age 81 of Oxford, passed away Sunday evening, November 8, 2020 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo with family by her side.  She was born on June 21, 1939 to Albert and Rachel (Neff) Colburn.  Dawn went to grade school in Grand Marsh and high school in Adams-Friendship.  She later married Duane DeMott on August 31, 1956 in Grand Marsh.  Dawn helped Duane run the family farm and did the bookwork while raising two children.  She was a member of the New Chester Church and a 4-H leader for the Oxford Record Makers. Dawn had a love for doing ceramics, found her making several beautiful pieces.  She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR, card games, cribbage and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There was a special place in her heart for her Grand Marsh Girls group.  Getting together every year had them reminiscing about all the good times growing up together and all the things they did, good and bad.

Dawn is survived by her son, Dean (Donna) DeMott of Oxford; her daughter, Wanda (Tim) Lagoe of Wake Forest, NC as well as three granddaughters, Sheena (Jake Moody) DeMott of Oxford, Brittany (Aron) Luchterhand of Spencer and Jaden (Andrew) Lee of Wilmington, NC; seven great grandchildren, Wyatt and Lily Moody, Cheyenne, Dirk and Emersyn Luchterhand, Logan and Locke Lee; two sister in laws, Lois and Gloria Colburn as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rachel Colburn; her husband, Duane; brothers, Lawrence “Stub”, Keith, Thaine and Donald; sisters, Betty Chinn and Cynthia “Polly” Boyce; sister in laws, Lolly, Teri and Delores Colburn and brother in law, Ernie Boyce.

A graveside prayer service for Dawn will be held at a later date (due to COVID-19) at New Chester Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County with Pastor Brenda Pulver officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. 

The family would like to specially thank John and Charlene Bennett, Oxford EMS, St. Clare Hospital staff, Nurse Kelsi and the St. Clare Hospice team for all the care they provided Dawn.
