John Snow

July 15, 1946 — April 25, 2021

Westfield

John Walter “Wonderful” Snow, age 74 of Westfield passed away suddenly at his home with family by his side on Sunday, April 25, 2021. John was born on July 15, 1946 to Elmer and Dorothy (Bean) Snow in Mountain, WI. He married the love of his life, Sylva (Walters) on November 15, 1969 and together they had eight children. John was an avid Brewers fan who loved when his sons-in-law would visit and watch the game with him. He also enjoyed early morning visits to the casino. He was always excited for family gatherings and looked forward to seeing all of his children with their families joined together. He was often the center of the gatherings – known to tell good stories, have witty comebacks, share his wisdom and life lessons and was known to occasionally start (and win) a pretty intense water fight from time to time. His family will miss so many things about him – the twinkle in his eye when he smiled, his humor, the countless card games, his candor and the fact that he always made sure they each knew how much he loved them. They are blessed to have all the countless memories and stories to share for years to come.

John leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Sylva; eight children: Rachel (Darin) Meyer of Waterloo, Rebecca (Tyler) Nelson of Oxford, Meredith (Gary) Congdon of Plover, Sylva Behnke and fiancé Ryan Nagle of Wisconsin Dells, Solomon Snow of Westfield, Sandra Snow (Clint Schwersenska) of Westfield, Nathan Snow of Westfield and Daniel Snow of Westfield; 13 grandchildren: Jordan, Taylor (Garrett), Dylan, Ashley, Avery, Hannah, Keaton, Colin, Natalie, Greyson, Logan, Scarlett and Ella. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Hoyt, Novaleigh, Dawson and Reese; brother: Mark Snow; sister: Rebecca Pike; father-in-law: Donald Walters Sr.; sisters-in-law: Sondra Snow and Brenda Kemnitz; brother-in-law: Donald Walters Jr.; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

John is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Dorothy; brothers: George, David and James; sisters: Mary Rickel and Sandra Weir; brothers-in-law: George Rickel, Dale Weir and Lonnie Pike; son-in-law: Brent Behnke; nephew: Basil Snow; and mother-in-law: Wanda Walters.
