Leila Elizabeth Brainard Kirchoff, age 99 of Colby, formerly of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the Colonial Center in Colby.

She was born on May 2, 1921 in Emporia, Kansas to Clifton Brainard and Pearl Regenold Brainard.

Leila lived a long and happy life. The oldest of 12 children. She did not attend high school as she helped out with her siblings.

Leila worked at Douglas Aircraft Factory, during WWII, where she helped to build airplanes.

She returned to her hometown, Patterson, CA where she worked several jobs, until she started working at the tomato packing shed in Patterson. Leila worked there for many years until she married Henry John Kirchoff on August 30, 1958 in Ceres, CA which they lived in San Jose, CA for several years until they bought a farm in Jerico Springs, Missouri. They farmed for 26 years till their retirement and moved to El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

She is survived by a brother, LeRoy Brainard of Modesto, CA and sister, Winifred Brainard of White Lake, Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews.  Leila was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; parents, Clifton and Pearl Brainard; sisters, Betty Emmons, Jane Murphy, Beulah Boyd, Leola Mello and Margaret Santos; brothers, Eugene and Clifton Brainard.

Leila will be laid to rest next to her husband in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, Missouri on Monday, Junee 22, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Gregory officiating.

Rest in peace sweet lovely lady. You will be missed very much.
