Lois Ann (Doeringsfeld) Reuter, age 99, formerly of Madison passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. She was born in Grant County to August and Alma (Wagner) Doeringsfeld.  Lois married Edwin N. Reuter in 1944.

Lois was raised in Fennimore, Wisconsin and graduated from Fennimore High School in 1939. She attended Platteville State Teachers College before going on to attend Nursing school in St. Louis, Missouri and LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She then graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1943, in Madison, Wisconsin. After marrying Edwin, the couple purchased a home in Madison, Wisconsin. Lois continued to work as a nurse at St. Mary’s hospital as a nurse in many areas before retiring in 1984. Lois was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church throughout her life in Madison. Lois was also a member of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary and taught at the St. Mary’s School of Nursing for many years. After the passing of Edwin, Lois found loving companionship with a friend she met at church, Don Peterson. Lois, Don and her beloved dog “Gigi” found happiness spending their winters in Alamo, Texas, then summers between Madison and at the lake cottage in Oxford, Wisconsin.

Eventually, Lois moved to Oregon, Wisconsin where she became a member of the Oregon Town and Womens Club and a member of the Silver Threads Organization at the Oregon Senior Center. In 2009, Lois moved to Harris Villa, Westfield, Wisconsin. Lois’ family will forever be grateful for the loving care provided by Nan Hinze and her staff. Lois will be remembered for her caring and giving nature, her sewing talents and how much she loved her family. She will be truly missed.
