Robert Gallow Sr.

August 3, 1931 — April 21, 2022

Montello/Harrisville

Robert “Bob” Gallow, age 90, of Harrisville, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2022.

He was born on August 3, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Helen and Henry Gallow. Bob graduated from Central High School in 1949 and completed one year of community college then enrolled in the United States Air Force. He served proudly for four years, 1950-1954 as a B-17 mechanic.

Bob married MaryLou Vandermyde on January 5, 1952 in Cocoa Beach, Florida. They began their family of eight children while living in Melbourne, Florida.

Each wanted a large family, which they had! Surviving them are Christy Gallow Cramer (Mike), Robert Gallow Junior (Wendy), Susan Sanchez (Marty), Ralph Gallow, Sarah Gallow Young. Bob was the grandfather of 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great -great grandchildren.

MaryLou, his wife of 70 years recently passed and has welcomed Bob in heaven to meet their three children, baby G, Michael Joseph and Ruth Ellen.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Gallow Spooner.

After leaving the Air Force Bob worked for Allen Bradley (now Rockwell International) for several years. He then joined the Milwaukee Fire Department as a firefighter then an MPO/HEO, serving the city for 29 years.

Bob and MaryLou retired in Montello, Wisconsin where they both held part-time jobs at Lake Arrowhead campground for many years. During his work life, he always held one or two additional jobs in the trades, one of which was the Autotrol Corporation building industrial water conditioning units.

Bob loved being active and industrious. Never a day passed without a long walk with his dogs, a workshop project, a tractor job, and much much more. He was always on hand to help his family, old and young with house repairs and to learn or build new things including character, morality and faith.

His final retirement home found him in Harrisville at Harris Villa Assisted Living where he was lovingly cared for as the patriarch of the Gallow family.
